Rosa was very nice and welcoming when she first came to our home. Her reference gave her really good recommendation, which is why we hired her and gave up on another good candidate. She was generally good with our baby and helped with some housekeeping (sweeping, folding laundry, meal prep). HOWEVER, you need to be clear with Rosa and set rules and give clear directions. Do not expect her to be proactive. I had given Rosa permission to be on her phone since my baby slept a lot and my husband and I were hands on with the baby. Rosa spent hours (3-4 hours) on the phone and wasn't proactive to ask if there was anything to help with during downtime. I wasn't too bothered by this, but given that it's a job, being on the phone that long was just a turn off. Secondly, On Rosa's second week, she texted me that she had a family emergency and will not come to work on Monday until further notice - leaving my family hanging on a very busy work schedule just after two weeks. She never gave us an update. It takes a while to find childcare and she knows this. I believe she had found a better paying job and used my family for 2 weeks to make money while waiting for her other job to start- when she knew we were looking for long term - or at least give us some days notice! This was very unprofessional of Rosa especially having been a caregiver for so long, she knows how important it is for backup care. We were so nice to Rosa, let her leave at 3pm on Friday's, and basically took care of our baby half the time, so if she didn't like how we do things or found a better paying job, she should have been decent enough to give us notice. Rosa, however is a nice lady, but Unfortunately she is k no it dependable.
