I lost my best friend of 12 years, Cashew, a few months ago. I was lucky though - Cashew was a wonderful dog who attracted other, equally special animals and humans into our home and family. As I nursed my best friend through mange, infections, knee surgeries and stomach cancers, Cashew's furry friends (Tyson, Charley, Midnight and Molly, to name just a few) became constant visitors and, over time, their human parents left them with us when they went away on vacations or on business trips. Shortly before Cashew passed, I realized I had become the official neighborhood "pet sitter". I love Tyson, Charley, Midnight and Molly and all of the other of Cashew's furry friends today as much as I ever did - the only difference being that I also miss Cashew and there is also room in my heart to welcome your Best Friend into my family too.
