I am passionate about caring for those with disabilities because I have had extensive experience within my family and past care-giving opportunities. I believe that an individual's desire for independence should always be respected when being a caregiver. I have had experience caring for a young teen in hospice with developmental and physical disabilities for the past 4 years. In college I was involved in the Best Buddies program and with the Center for Students with Disabilities. Additionally, I have offered support for family members who have been diagnosed with Down Syndrome, ASD's, ADHD, depression, deafness, and intellectual disabilities. I am currently studying to become an occupational therapist. I have worked in Denmark with school aged children with disabilities as well. I am enthusiastic to learn more about specific care for individuals with special needs and would love the opportunity to do so.
