Although I am not professionally trained or educated in the area of special needs, I have been working with children with special needs of all kinds for several years. I find it rewarding, throughout all it's challenges, and I really love working with Autistic and Downs syndrome kids in particular. I worked in a private daycare up until last year, and my primary position was taking care of the Special Needs kids that we had attending. I also worked at a summer camp as Special Needs Assistant, where I helped to coordinate schedules, applications and activities to accommodate children with Special Needs wanting to attend the camp. In this job I had the opportunity to work with many different children with Special Needs. I have experience with non-verbal communication, emotional outbursts, and bowel control problems and accidents. I can assist with bathroom and mealtime assistance, some medication supervision, special diets, and mobile and motor skill assistance. I would love to help care for your Special Needs child/young adult. I am up to date in CPR/AED and first aid training for adults, children and infants.
