I have always had a soft spot in my heart for children with special needs. Throughout high school I was very involved with the special needs community. I took a class called Experience In Teaching where I would tentatively work with a small group of kids on a daily basis, therefore, I become very connected with them as vise versa. I was also a member of the Best Buddies club where I was paired up with a student with special needs and became a part of their lives. For example, we would sit together at lunch, talk on the phone, and even do fun activities outside of school. I love these children because they all come from such a genuine place, and there is no greater feeling than to be that person they let their guard down to.
