I am a soon-to-be graduate of St. Olaf College with a degree in English, and will student teach in English/ESL during the 2012-2013 school year.
I started babysitting when I was 12 years old. I worked for several families over the years, and held a regular position with one family for 5 years. The children I babysat ranged in age from 4 months to 12 years. I volunteered time at Trinity Nursery School when I was in junior high, and served as a Peer Minister at Trinity during my sophomore and junior years of high school. During my senior year, I was a Peer Helper through Big Brothers Big Sisters and was paired with a 5th grader. Throughout high school and college, I have continued to teach Sunday school (5th grade) and Vacation Bible School (1st - 4th grade), as well as piano and viola lessons (1st - 10th grades).
My work with the Education Department at St. Olaf has also required field experiences in the local schools, during which I have worked in 1st, 5th, and 11th grade classrooms. I have done additional tutoring through the Northfield Reads and Counts program with 1st and 3rd graders.
