I have a younger sister that is special needs. She has a disorder called Tuberous Sclerosis, anxiety issues, and a learning disability all controlled by medication which I have given to her. She loves to play, read, write. As a sister I love her to death and always believed that special needs children is a blessing in disguise for families because they make the bond and love stronger than ever even through the hardest of times. From watching and taking care of her I have learned to be very patient and open to anything. My other experience is watching another family 's daughters with special needs for a long time. Also in middle school and high school I have played, taught, and been a friend to the same special needs boy with his aid and it was amazing. Having a sister I always have been around many special needs kids all my life, and they gave me the inspiration to become an Occupational therapist. My dream is to make a difference in families lives by helping their children learn new things and watch them overcome obstacles I think an Occupational therapist can do that. In the end I also believe I can have the chance to do that now by having new opportunities to watch, play, or just be a friend to more special need children and their families.
