I'm a 51-year-old woman who has had several years of experience working with adults and children with special needs. I worked for AHRC (Association for the Help of Retarded Citizens) in Brookville, NY for several years as an assistant teacher and in latter years as a medical caseworker for several group homes. I often did one-on-one respite care for adults, as well as children, during my time with this organization. Since that time I have held several respite jobs for families while I returned to school in my 30's. Most recently I was a life skills coach/tutor for a 25 yr old Down Syndrome man. My rate for care is $15/hr for 1 child/adult. If there are additional children/pets I would not have a problem with that and we could work something out.
