Hello, my name is Edward. I am a college student who transferred from Riverside Community College to CSU, San Bernardino to attain my Bachelors in Mathematics with a Single Subject Credential in teaching and will be graduating in the Spring of 2015.
My job experience has been varied, and is very encompassing of the qualities asked of a tutor. I have worked for Target corporation which has made me more punctual and given me irreplaceable people skills. Also, I have conducted and published mathematical research for CSU, San Bernardino. Most importantly, I have worked for a company called Academic Advantage in a certain program where children are mentored in basic Mathematics, as well as, English speaking skills. These are determined by a standard knowledge exam administered by myself. My job was to address any of the child's weaker concept areas (e.g. addition, division, geometry, etc.) that are identified by the test. This is where we begin, and only after we discuss a lesson plan in which the parent, the child, and myself sign, do we proceed with tutoring sessions.
My total experience involves writing tests, making lesson plans, traveling to homes, knowledge of multiple subjects, such as: Mathematics and English, scheduling/hour tracking, and the elementary background that comes with being a tutor. Though limited, my tutoring experience has given me great insight towards my future teaching plans in general.
