My younger brother (17 months apart) has Autism. For as long as I can remember I have always been by his side. I have gone to his therapy sessions (in home and out of home) to help. In middle school I volunteered daily at a therapeutic horseback riding facility for a wide variety of disabled children and adults. I was a full time nanny for a family with 3 young children one of which had Down Syndrome. In high school I was a mentor in the special needs class and helped assist during the adaptive PE classes. I started an after school club for "normal" students to buddy up with the special needs student and take them to various after school activities. I have done one-on-one in home therapy with elementary aged children with Autism. I have held various nannying and babysitting jobs over the years and am still in contact with the families. I am currently employed (Part Time) at a Day Center for mentally and physically disabled adults (ages 22-70+).
