I worked for two years as an instructional aide for the Huntington Beach City School District working with students with disabilities. These disabilities, both mental and physical, included severe autism, Asperger's syndrome, developmental delay, down syndrome, cerebral palsy, Prader Willi, blindness/visual impairment, as well as behavioral issues. I have been trained in ABA, applied behavioral analysis, DTT, discrete trial therapy, and BI, behavior inclusion. I currently (16 months) work privately, for a family, for a teenager with severe autism. I am very passionate about working with kids with special needs. I have also volunteered many times in high schools working with teenagers with special needs. Most of my volunteer experience is as a manager/coach for a Challenger League Baseball team for players with both physical and mental disabilities. I also volunteer at the high school dances designated for students with disabilities. This gives the students a fun opportunity to enjoy after-school activities with their friends and fellow students.
