Hi everyone, I'm Cortney, for the past five years I have been providing care for the elderly. I worked at a local nursing home for 6 months and from there decided I wanted to do private in home care where the patient could get one on one care. For the past three years I did a live in position working with a 98-year-old woman, 95 when I started. It was one of the best experiences I have had. She became more then just a client to me, she was family. I was responsible for cooking, cleaning, running errands, all doctors appointments, transferring the client from wheelchair to bed with and without a hoyer lift, bathing and dressing her. I not only provided her with physical care but also emotional support. When the weather was nice we would enjoy our time outdoors going for walks or just sitting on the front porch together. I love providing in home care because it gives you more time to get to know the client on a more personal level and provide better care when working one on one.
