I have worked for the past year and a half with a company which provides personal care for individuals with developmental disabilities. for the first 7 months I worked with children implementing specialized in-home treatment plans. The goal was specific to the child I was working with and ranged from managing and redirecting aggression and self-injurious behaviors to building social skills for community involvement. I currently work in a group home with special needs adults who need extensive one-on-one care. I help my clients with personal hygiene, daily routines such as dressing, toileting, and eating, as well as provide companionship and community integration and involvement. I absolutely love working with these individuals as I feel they have so much to offer. I am a very curious and sociable person, and my favorite thing is to interact with people who think very differently from myself, as those are the people from whom I learn the most.
