I love being a schoolteacher and Connie loves to take care of those who need a helping hand. I was close to her aunt, a long-time schoolteacher, who was diagnosed with mantle cell lymphoma. Her aunt was my mentor and friend. The love and compassion Connie showed for her was truly wonderful to observe. Her aunt was always self-sufficient, and it was difficult when she needed assistance. Connie never let her lose her dignity. Having her niece close by allowed her to feel she was a part of everyday life, and when times got tough, she could always depend on her. Connie was always up to the task with her physical needs, and when there was a window to laugh, she flew in.
