I spent a few years volunteering at a children's day camp, and later, working at a day care for children from 4-14 years of age. Most recently, I cared for three girls (ages one, five, and eight). For this family, I was responsible for cooking/preparing meals, completing a few small cleaning tasks, and tutoring the two oldest girls.
I have a small amount of experience caring for gifted children with mental and/or physical disabilities.
I speak, and have tutored for both English and Spanish languages.
I play guitar, and my mother, who is a creative art teacher, allows my access to many arts and crafts. I encourage reading and the performing arts, and would not hesitate to help with homework!
I adore children, and plan on working with them for the rest of my life. I am currently a psychology major, with an emphasis on child psychology, at the University of Southern Maine. After I graduate, I plan on volunteering for AmeriCorps until I am ready to apply to graduate school.
