Prior to my current place of employment, I worked as an Activities/Art Therapy aid at Communicare - Adult Medical Day. I spent my time at the facility running centralized programs directed towards a spectrum of disabilities (i. e: Schizophrenia, Down syndrome; visual impairments/blindness, Cerebral Palsy, Muscular Dystrophy, Multiple Sclerosis, etc). I fell in love with the patients' and genuinely took an interest in each individual. We went on many trips; focusing on encouraging independence, basic living needs and boosting confidence. I grew attached to my friends at Communi-care, so I visit about 1-2 times a month. I currently work at Virtua Hospital in Berlin, NJ. I'm a Certified Recreational Therapy Aid running cognitive/physical programs that enhance quality of life. I'm starting Occupational Therapy School at PhillyU in the fall looking to establish a new position where I have the flexibility to balance a full time job and a 25 hour school week.
