I believe that a person who has lasted this long should be treated with all the respect we can give. I worked as a hospital aide, often called 'Candy Striper' (though not in the silly outfit) while in high school. I requested Neo-Natal and was placed as far off on the other end of the spectrum you can get, in Cardiac. Though there weren't a lot of cute babies to fawn over I met some truly interesting people and was grateful for the experience in the end. I've also spent the summer working at Camp Skyline in Almont, MI. Each week a new batch of campers would arrive. Mentally disabled elderly patients were are first weeks group, meant as a warm-up before the kids (ages 3-16) overtook the camp. The job was challenging and unlike anything I had experienced before. I was very pleased with my work at the end of summer.
