I have worked as a caregiver for 3 years. Since I was a young woman I have always had a fascination and compassion for caring for the elderly.
I have worked with clients with dementia, Alzheimer's, depression, as well as hospice care.
I have done various tasks over the years from cooking and cleaning. I have fed many dogs and cats. I have also taken clients to their doctors appointments. I have aided and assisted in pivoting patients that have had a stroke or balance issues. I have also aided and assisted with toileting and bathing as needed.
I have also helped clients with exercises that help strengthen the body.
One of many joys that I have, comes with seeing when a client completes a task that may have been a challenge before and can acknowledge success now.
Building relationships is paramount. You know you have arrived when you feel like your part of the family. When a client shares stories of memories of years gone by; its important that you listen. Sharing is caring.
