I am looking to obtain one-on-one experience working with those with special needs. I am currently a sophomore communication sciences and disorders student at UW-Eau Claire, and my special education course this semester has heightened my interest in getting involved with those with disabilities. For most of my life I have seen individuals with disabilities excluded from activities with normally developing individuals, however I am passionate about providing opportunities that individuals with special needs may rarely receive. I would like to see my care assist individuals to reach their highest level of independence and provide them with active, fun, and safe adventures. Kandu Industries and Special Olympics have provided me with a few volunteer activities working with special needs citizens. I have 9 years of experience babysitting or nannying part time. Currently, I volunteer serving infants and toddlers in a local nursery. Although most of my previous care experience has been with normal developing toddlers and elementary aged children, I am searching to find available special needs persons of all ages to care for. My certifications include lifeguarding, first aid, and CPR-AED.
