I am going to graduate school for Social Work. I have a passion for working with children with autism and/or mental illnesses. I have been baby-sitting for over nine years and I also assist with two children who have autism. I have volunteered at the Commonwealth Center for Children and Adolescents in Staunton and my internship will be at Graydon Manor in Sterling. I enjoy getting to know children with special needs and determining how to most effectively connect with each child because they are all so amazingly unique.

Carissa seems like part of the family now. She has been incredibly reliable and most importantly has provided so much love to our daughter with special needs. Our daughter looks forward to the time Carissa spends with her, it's like they are buddies! Carissa is constantly engaging our daughter in all kinds of activities and keeps her very busy. We can have peace of mind knowing that she will be well taken care of, which allows us to get a needed break. Honestly, I don't know what we'd do without her!
