I have 17 years experience with special needs children as I have a son diagnosed with autism. Thanks to my dedication and determination my son will be beginning a half day of vocational training next school year. I have an associate degree in behavioral/social science. Professionally, I have worked in a school setting as both a special education aide and a teacher assistant in an autism support classroom. I have also worked in the home and community settings with children on the spectrum as a therapeutic support staff. I also have experience as a caregiver and mother's helper in a private setting for a single mother with three children on the spectrum. In conjunction with this single mother I started the first social skills group in my small hometown local library. I am a natural born caregiver and extremely passionate about sharing my knowledge and experience in the field of autism as I have attended many national autism conferences in State College, PA. in addition to my many personal and professional experiences. I would like to work with one family in order to dedicate my full attention to their child.

Betty was a very dependable, friendly, caring helper for the time she was with us part time and then full time! My kids are all in school as of Fall 2014, so I wasn't able to offer her as many hours as would be ideal for a full-time position. She assisted both with our home-based therapies for my kids' different needs (speech therapy, vision therapy, some occupational therapies - training was given for these activities by the therapist who assigned those helps for our home-based program) as well as with the homeschooling check lists I aimed for, for the academic work that the kiddos had. I miss our old routine!
