I have worked extensively with children ranging in ages 3-8 who have many mental and physical disabilities. Throughout my teachings thus far I have worked predominantly with children on the Autism Spectrum ranging from needing assistance with feeding and toileting to higher functioning social and academic work.
My love for working with special needs children began in high school when I volunteered for my towns Special Olympics soccer program. I absolutely loved the experience and knew I wanted to explore a career working with people with disabilities. I got my masters degree in elementary and special education and coached for a club soccer team where I have worked with many forms of disabilities. One of my favorite things about working with children with disabilities is that they do not see their disability as anything but normal and they thrive in the right environment. Being able to make a difference in these children lives has made me a better person and pushed me to help others.
