My most recent experience working with special needs comes from my time as a Registered Behavior Technician in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis. I've worked closely with children ranging from the ages of 2-18 with different diagnoses including Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADD/ADHD, cognitive delay, Cerebral Palsy, speech delay, Down Syndrome, and impaired hearing. In this field, I worked to build relationships with every child I helped shape behavior for by following strict Behavior Implementation Plans. Having a special needs brother (age 7, Cerebral Palsy) led my desire to work closely with special needs. I was offered a job in 2015 as a nanny for a 2-year-old with Down Syndrome. My job included taking her to/from speech, occupational, and physical therapies, communicating with ASL, following her dietary needs, administering medicines when needed, playtime, and overall keeping her a happy child. My time with her ended after she started school, and then I fell into the ABA world.
