Currently, I just finished my sophomore year at Penn State, so I am now a junior. I'm the oldest child of four (1 boy-17, 2 girls 15 and 10). I started babysitting at the age of 13. My experience ranges from infants to preteens (though mostly ages 2-5), babysitting in and out of the home, single children and multiple children, and for hours at a time as well as overnight. I have helped teach preschool ballet classes and coached a U6 soccer team. My junior year of high school I taught a 4th and 5th grade Sunday school class of ~14 kids, and my senior year I taught a kindergarten class of ~ 10 kids (both with the help of one other teacher my age). I looked forward to those classes every weekend! I also often volunteered in the 2's and 3's class. Two of my cousins had children within the past year so I have had recent experience with infants.
I absolutely love working with kids. My personal babysitting philosophy is that every child is different, and the babysitter needs to adapt and learn the child. One of my favorite activities as a babysitter is just talking with them. I love hearing about their day, what they're interested in, the story about how they scraped their knee on the playground, and what their new favorite toy is. I just love getting to know them. Engaging in the activities they like, as well as playing games, going outside, reading, and teaching them new things are all activities I enjoy doing.
