My experience has been a personal one both with my grandmother and my own parents. I would help her with all types of tasks from changing light bulbs to resetting clocks to taking out trash to taking her to the supermarket. I even took her on a 10 day road trip from NY to Florida to see family - she was 91! It was the company she enjoyed and I am a great listener and full of empathy. With my own parents, I enjoy taking them out and am also their 'technical support' with computers, TVs, and phones. Sometimes people just need that listening ear and simple tasks completed to have some joy and peace. That's my goal. I also substitute teach mainly with the special education kids. They are dear to my heart.
