Hi everyone. My name is Kirksey and I am a college student, majoring in biology in hopes to be a physician or surgeon one day. I started on the special needs track in high school when I was blessed with the opportunity to be a high school peer buddy. For those of you that do not know how amazing this is, this is the chance to be selected out of all the student body to be the specific helper and tutor for a special needs child My peer buddy and I worked each day volunteering at the animal shelter and in the kitchen at different cafes to help her learn functional skills and dealing with her emotions in a public setting. I became her teacher and developed techniques to help her learn more about the outside world. We are still close friends and talk each day. I also have volunteered at special growers, helping multiple special needs children at a time learn gardening and how plants grow. I am very passionate about what I do as I truly care about all children and believe in each of them.
