Ana cared for my father-in-law for almost a year and a half. He was diagnosed with terminal cancer. She not only provided care giving, she provided companionship and friendship. She was trusted like a family member - someone we could trust to help us make decisions about his care since she was with him more than we were able to be there. She worked with nurses to make sure medications and doses were effective. She worked hard to make sure the weekend staff knew exactly what needed to be done. She kept family members up-to-date on my father-in-laws visitors, phone calls, nurse and doctor visits. Ana went over and above in every aspect of his care. It is always hard to lose someone, but knowing that their end of life experience was all it could be makes it just a little easier.
