I have been doing child care for roughly seven years now. I started when I was 14 years old, baby-sitting neighbor children. I baby-sat many families throughout the neighborhood, ranging from one child to six children (including twins). During high school, I continued to baby-sit throughout my neighborhood and surrounding neighborhoods.
I applied for an internship at a local elementary school and received the job. I worked in a kindergarten classroom from noon until 4:00 p.m., everyday. In the classroom, I assisted the teacher in any activities that she needed. I also helped teach the class daily math problems and reading activities. I interned at this elementary school my junior and senior year in high school.
When I graduated high school, I moved from Michigan to Arizona and started school at Arizona State University. I am currently a junior in the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College, majoring in early childhood education and minoring in child development with a 3. 86 GPA. I just became a certified liaison with a non-profit organization called Leaps and Bounds which is a kindergarten readiness program that works with children and families throughout many school districts in Phoenix and Mesa to better prepare them for kindergarten. I am currently student teaching in a head start classroom in Mesa, AZ. I am the lead teacher with a class of 16 in the morning and 17 in the afternoon. My class ranges in ages from 3-5 years old. All of my students are bilingual so I am slowly picking up the Spanish language more and more each day :). I am also working part time at a children's gym called Gymboree teaching little ones ranging from 4 months-5 years old!
I absolutely love working with young children, as well as watching them grow physically and developmentally. I hope to meet with you and your child(ren) soon.
