For the past 11 years, I worked as an Education Support Professional (ESP) with students with moderate to severe special needs at a public middle school in Massachusetts. My students were in 6th - 8th grade and usually between 11 and 15 years old with special needs that included autism, Downs, Fragile X, Pervasive Development Disorder, OCD, ODD, ADD and ADHD some combined with medical issues such as seizure disorders and life-threatening allergies. I have extensive experience assisting children with academic, social, behavioral, personal care and community goals. I also worked with special needs students from elementary through middle school in an after-school program. Additionally, I co-led an exercise class through a local recreation department for special needs children and their siblings with a goal of getting everyone moving and interacting. I have recently relocated to this area due to a job-related change for my husband. I am the mother of three children 20-26. I have nannied.
