Ever since I can remember, I have always loved children. Growing up, my home was a gathering place for cousins and neighborhood children. My mother was a bubbly elementary school teacher who welcomed children of all ages into our home. I believe this is where my love for nurturing children began. Naturally, I began assisting my mother and babysitting children at a very young age. Over time, I began to lead a large children's choir, teach Sunday school classes, coach cheer-leading camps for young children, instruct dance classes and tutor. Specifically, my nanny career has been predominantly with children who have special needs including caring for children who have: ADHD, Sensory Integration, Profound Deafness, Cerebral Palsy. I also have experience with Autism and Asperger's. Through my experience, I have acquired skills such as patience, responsibility, quick thinking skills and the ability to responsibly protect, nurture and care for children while still remaining calm and fun-loving. This skill set has been strengthened through extensive and diverse positions. I have worked with multiples, infants, toddlers and even teenagers. I have worked as a babysitter, nanny, house manager, house sitter and tutored elementary through college level students. What sets me apart as a special needs nanny? I make lasting connections with the kids I care for through my warm and nurturing approach. Moreover, I truly care about the development of the kids I care for. I am enthusiastic and supportive and I delight in helping kids progress in physical, behavioral and social development. In addition I am a hands-on caregiver - in other words, I play with children as opposed to simply overseeing them. I enjoy encouraging and empowering kids' imagination and expression of "self" through reading, fun crafts, field trips, nature adventures, and interactive & imaginative games. In addition to my experience and skill-set, I drive a reliable car and I am a non-smoker. I don't mind helping around the house and I can prep and or cook meals, clean, run errands do laundry etc. I also hold a current certification in infant, child and adult CPR from the American Heart Association and received a Child Care Safety certification from the Hospital. I am looking to be placed from January - the end of the school year. Please contact me if you are interested or if you have any questions. Best wishes in your nanny search, Amelie :)
