I am currently working as a nanny. I care for 2 kids, one 10month old and one 2year old. I try to keep them engaged in activities throughout the day to help them learn and achieve milestones. I do "calendar time" with the 2yr old while the baby naps. We have music time where we learn and explore instruments, play rhythm games, dance, and do action songs together. I also try to incorporate art at least once a day. Both kids love paint, so that is usually our go-to. We also have multiple outside times for different activities. I am a strong advocate for talking big feelings out and letting big feelings happen instead of putting a kid in automatic time-out or shaming them for their emotions. I try to teach that crying or getting upset is okay and how to do so appropriately. I have only used time-out as a last resort where safety may have been a concern (constant hitting sibling).
