Meet Amanda
I am very interested in helping take care of children for parents who work often or need a weekend out. I am a full-time student at Northern Illinois University, with a goal to get a degree in Special Education within the next two years. I started babysitting at a young age, by helping out my neighbor watch her three kids, for about three years. I also worked with children with special needs throughout high school and was an active participant in Best Buddies. I became vice president of the club my senior year. I have continued this to college, and am a member of the club now and currently have a great friendship with my buddy. I love to watch children of all ages and I do believe that I am a people person. I have great patience and can take on responsibility without being asked to do so.

It is with pleasure that I write this letter of recommendation for Miss Amanda W. I am a counselor that has worked with Amanda here at Northern Illinois University and know that she has a tremendous amount of potential to succeed within the field of education especially with the assistance of your distinguished monetary award. Her academic performance (current cumulative GPA of 3.16) and campus activity involvement further demonstrates her determination and passion to continue to work toward her goals. I have found through her campus involvement, classes, and meetings with Amanda, that not only is she a leader, but also a very proactive, responsible, and reliable young woman. Amanda has worked at a retail store to help support her mother and younger brother, although she is physically disabled herself and relies on a wheelchair, and she is an active member of Chi Alpha Epsilon Honor Society. Along with all of her involvement, Amanda was admitted into NIU's Education program in which she will also study special education. Amanda also primarily supports herself financially and is in need of monetary assistance. Her grades are consistently great and she is progressing within the education program very well. I rarely meet students who exude her level of confidence, determination, and stamina. Furthermore, Amanda wants to join the Peace Corps after earning her degree so that she can help others overseas. It is because of her mission that she will one day become an educator who will make a difference in our global society by helping any and every little one that will cross her path. You will find that Amanda combines intellect, curiosity, enthusiasm and determination in any goal she chooses. She is always willing to learn and to take on new challenges; therefore I offer her my highest recommendation. Sincerely, Passion W., M.S., ESP CHANCE Counselor; Chi Alpha Epsilon Faculty-Adviser Posted Apr 22, 2014
