I am currently a sophomore in college at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. My senior year I had the amazing opportunity of an internship with the South Shore Educational Collaborative, in which I worked with 6 boys. Some had autism, personality disorders, and various other mental conditions. Working with them I helped them with multiple different subjects! I helped them with math, reading and answering questions, speech and much more! My favorite times was when we got to get creativity, such as painting and baking! I also go with them to our schools work out center to get some exercise as well as practicing hands on things relating to occupational therapy. I learned how each of the students learned differently, some were better at certain subject than others. I learned how to talk to them and discipline them in a way they would understand. Yet since it was an internship with school I did not make a salary yet the knowledge and experience I gained over the year was so worth it!
