About who needs care: Retired firefighter with COPD and Congestive Heart failure. High fall risk but still ambulating with assistance. Uses walker or cane and occasional wheelchair. Recovering from recent shoulder replacement surgery. Breathing satisfactory with low flow O2 at night and used of inhaler.
Ideally his day begins with breakfast and medications then assist with dressing. If health conditions permit he would go to his garage to tinker with a project. We try to encourage as much independence as is safe. We are in need of two separate shifts: Morning and evening.
Our Dad is still fairly sharp but has a few short term blips here and there. He loves discovery type shows and learning about things he's never heard of. He is frustrated by his loss of mobility and capacity to do all he still wishes to accomplish but he has his off days but keeps a pretty good attitude with effort most days.
About the care needs: We'd like a positive and compassionate person who can take the good days along with the not so good days and maintain our Dad's routine and care consistently and professionally. We require a person who pays attention to details-is professional- neatly dressed- good communicator - responsive and observant.

High School Diploma
Be in reasonably good health be able to manage physical aspects of care without harm to yourself or our dad.
-Able to use blood pressure machine O2 saturation sensor and pulse and record daily vitals
Be a good listener and provide emotional/mood support
Inform us of any changes in physical/mental status
Successfully cook and prepare meals and maintain shopping list
Light housekeeping and laundry
Aid in all areas of personal hygiene as needed
Dad has two elder dogs- Be comfortable with dogs and feed and let outside to back yard
Assist and motivate with any physical therapy activities
Monitor and assist with mobility at level needed (this may fluctuate)
Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
