Full Time
About who needs care: He is very active and in good physical shape. His short-term memory is a little impaired (may repeat the story he just told you), but he is not a risk to himself. He loves hunting and fishing. He ties fishing flies and loves to garden. He is former and served during the Korean War--loves to talk about his time in the service. In summer, he loves to be outside, mowing his lawn and tending his vegetable garden. My mom and brother, both of whom lived with him, died last year so evenings are very lonely for him. He comes to NY to stay with me for most of the winter, and at various times throughout the year, but he wants to be in his own home for most of the spring, summer and fall months. Ideal person would be someone who could go fishing with him and would appreciate his fly-tying efforts.
About the care needs: Someone who is outdoorsy and likes hunting and fishing would be a good fit. He generally remembers to take his pills, but reminders of what day of the week it is helps to keep him on track with his pill-by-the day box. He only takes 6 pills (including 2 vitamins) in the morning, and one at night. Easy schedule. He has a good appetite but needs reminders to stop to eat when he gets busy doing something.
Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
