About who needs care: Bill has aphasia which makes communication sometimes difficult and frustrating. He has had a double stroke and heart attack which has left him with significant deficits. I move him from bed to his electric chair via a hoyer lift. I need to pull him higher on his bed frequently as he slides down over time and with movement. He has minimal use of his right side. He can use a urinal however bowel movements are in a pull up. He may ask you to repeat something or say it louder. Can't talk too fast. He enjoys the outdoors weather permitting. He watches tv and enjoys his radios and quite a bit of coffee. About the care needs: Mostly looking for someone who can step in when I need to run errands. Need someone who can make him feel comfortable, not talk too fast and loud enough for him. He needs someone who is patient who may understand stroke victims who suffer from aphasia who can help troubleshoot what he may mean if it isn't correct. Caregiver would need to empty and rinse a urinal, clean up a bowel movement, get coffee or other drink he may desire, possibly heat up a meal, pull him up in bed and/or hoyer lift him to his chair or from chair to bed. Caregiver should converse with him/interact.
