About who needs care: My father has had double knee surgery several years ago that never healed well due to my father not keeping up with physical therapy because it hurts... so he does not walk well.. he is stubborn so will not use cane or walker so my mom is having a hard time in motivating him to do his walking and stretching exercises. He also has had several TIA's which has affected his speech, hand mobility as well as walking and his mind (like dementia). My mom is overwhelmed with taking care of him alone and would like help a couple of days a week, helping with meal prep, taking him to any doctor appts, getting him to do his walking/stretching exercises for his legs & hands - as well as any help he may need in the bathroom. About the care needs: Someone with a good sense of humor would be great for my dad. Ability to lift a heavy 210 pound many when/if necessary... and someone that can motivate him to do his exercises to strengthen his legs, hands and being able to get up in case he falls... Ability to be able to drive him to doctor appts & maybe go on a walk if legs get strengthened enough. Ability to prep a dinner for my mom (not canned or frozen food, but good home-cooked meal or crock pot prep) (My mom is overwhelmed with doing this on her own 24/7) Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
