Part Time Caregiver / Tutor

I am a CA Credentialed music teacher with a passion for helping students find their voice through music. My experience as a music educator over the past 10+ years has been varied. From teaching as a band director, to private lessons, to after school programs focusing on percussion, to bass guitar at rock and roll summer camps, drum circles, guitar classes, and classroom music to running a full middle school music program. I also have experience teaching at all grade levels, from my elementary music classes, to middle school band, to high school band and percussion programs, to adult steel drum bands. In my classes and lessons, students experience a musical education that inspires them to continually improve and take pride in their individual accomplishments and creativity. I strive to create an open environment where students feel comfortable taking musical risks, knowing that mistakes are a part of the process. I believe in empowering students by guiding them through the process of learning, teaching them to identify the reasons for their successes or setbacks, and helping them push themselves to achieve the next level in their playing. I can teach: *Percussion (including drum set, hand drums, mallet percussion, etc.) Beginner-Advanced *Bass Guitar: Beginner-Advanced *Ukulele: Beginner-Intermediate *Guitar: Beginner-Intermediate *Piano: Beginner *Woodwinds (Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone): Beginner *Brass (Trumpet, Trombone, Baritone/Euphonium): Beginner *Violin: Beginner Want to learn an instrument not on this list? Tutor Of All Subjects With B.A. In English And Art History

I am passionate about fostering a one-on-one connection with my students, because when I listen and learn how they need to be helped, I can better cater my services to benefit their personal growth. Learning and gaining an education is more than memorizing facts; it's about becoming more enlightened, aware, and prepared for the life around you and ahead of you. Growing up in a big family, I have learned first-hand what it's like to take care of and be taken care of by a family that will do anything to ensure we had a good education. Having someone there to help guide me while I was growing up was something that I have always been thankful for, so I know how important it is for me to be able to offer that same help to others who need it. I started working at a Boy Scout Camp and volunteering my time as a high school student to tutor at my old elementary school after school, and from those experiences I saw what an impact just one person can make on another life. Now I have been tutoring in English (writing, reading, comprehension, expression, ESL, speech), math, science, history, music (violin, piano, guitar, ukulele), and art (drawing, painting) to my local community and am happy to help in any way I can. I teach private English lessons in professional, academic, creative, or journalistic writing. I am also a writer for a socially conscious, fair trade business. I also specialize in ESL style teaching that engages in conversational speech development for both the professional and social atmosphere in American society and culture. I am also helping a non-profit develop a literacy through the arts program to implement a new curriculum of teaching English through the media of performing arts, music, and visual arts. Expression is key to fulfilling your life's goals because it connects you with people, and I am able to greatly improve your abilities to bridge those connections while you remain true to yourself. The difference that can be made in a person's life when he or she is given the right amount of care and attention deserved to thrive is so rewarding, and that is what drives me to tutor.
