Loving And Lively Mother's Helper

Part Time
Gaithersburg family needs a part-time nanny. Must love kids! Our ideal match will meet the requirements below. Comfortable With Pets: We have 2 indoor cats. Pick-up or Drop-off: Library, playgrounds, nearby activities. Schedule Details: This is a tentative schedule as this is new to us. About the child(ren): Our 19-month-old is full of energy, curious, and always on the go! She absolutely loves the outdoors and socializing. She does a wonderful job communicating her needs and is already a chatterbox! She is funny and goofy; it's just fun being around here (when she's not too tired). She's a great eater and loves books. We speak both Portuguese and English in the house, and she understands both languages really well but her vocabulary is richer in Portuguese. Discipline-wise, she responds really well when you reason with her and explains the reasons why something cannot be done (e. g., We love you too much and don't want you to get hurt, that's why jumping on the sofa is not allowed). Like a typical bossy toddler, she doesn't always listen, but she will be much more open to it the second time around! She responds incredibly well to distraction, too. We just moved to a new house, which has been both exciting and stressful. Our little one has responded well, but she still doesn't feel as safe and settled as we wish she did. We need someone who will be patient, loving, and will help her feel safe through this transition. My husband and I both work full-time, mostly from home. My mother lives with us and has been our toddler's main caregiver when we are working. So we are really looking for someone who will provide her with play and educational activities and who will keep her away from screens. Grandma does all the cooking and we have cleaning help twice a week. We live on a 1-acre lot, so there's plenty of space for fun! Both my husband and I are psychologists and aware of how crucial this developmental stage is, so we are looking for someone who truly loves interacting with children, rather than simply watching them.
