My name is Nicole and I love working with kids. I have been working with typical and special needs kids for 15 years now. I specialize in working with children on the autism spectrum and have a B. S. in Speech and Hearing.
I specialize in figuring out what each individual child's internal motivation is and I make learning fun in their own way. I am not a tech therapist (iPad/tablet), I am a natural play therapist. I use sports, cooking, toys, dancing, sensory, and fun to teach children. Each child is different and I take pride in learning their strengths and their weaknesses and helping make learning motivating and fun each day.
I have a really good working relationship with families, I've worked with three families for 2- 4 years each and still stay in contact with them on holidays and birthdays. My job duties included taking care of children ages 4-14, cooking, bathing, potty training, teaching daily living skills, teaching academic skills, tutoring, extracurricular activities, transportation, traveling with family on vacations, and taking care of children when parents are out of town. I have also done laundry, cleaning, and taken care of their houses, cars, and their pets.
During my professional career I have worked in the public and charter schools for the past four years as a speech language pathology assistant focusing on articulation, social skills, and language development with children ages 2-13 years old. Clients have been nuerotypical and have had a variety of special needs, Down syndrome, Autism, Fragile X, Asperger, and LD to name a few.
My passion has always been children and have a soft heart and understanding for those on the autism spectrum, and I look forward to working with you and your children soon.
