The Nursery Attendant is responsible for:
- Providing age-appropriate care which includes feeding, changing diapers, escorting to the bathroom, maintaining a safe environment, putting children down for naps, holding, or sitting with and cheerfully interacting with children through games, stories, and play.
- Being polite, friendly, and courteous to all children, parents, and volunteers.
- Opening the nursery by 9 a.m. every Sunday morning (the Attendant is expected to work all Sundays even if it falls on a holiday).
- Communicating sick policy to parents as needed (no child with fever, cough, rash, infection, or pink eye (conjunctivitis) will be allowed to use the nursery facility). Policy sign posted in nursery.
- Recruiting, scheduling, and training volunteers to assist with weekly childcare duties (one volunteer per week).
- Closing the nursery after all children are secured with a responsible adult named on the child's registration form, typically no later than 12 p.m. This includes straightening the room and cleaning as needed before leaving. (All toys that have had contact with saliva will require special attention. A sanitizing solution will be available to use in the nursery.)
- In the event of an emergency or child illness, notifying the parent(s) via cell phone.
- Participating in an evaluation after a 90-day probationary period and thereafter annually.
- Reporting to the staff parish relations team liaison any issues which are hindering the ability to perform duties or responsibilities.
- Communicating in advance, by phone, email, or text to the staff parish relations team liaison: any planned absences with an advance two-week notice, or any unplanned absences at least two hours prior to the shift.
