To provide safe, caring, quality child care for children in the Gilbert Presbyterian Church (GPC) nursery during Sunday worship and to provide leadership and supervision for church member volunteers who assist in the nursery. Applicant needs background in early childhood education and/or experience in infant/child care. Must be able to interact positively with children and adults, modeling the love of Jesus. Dependability and good organizational skills are highly desired. A love of children is a necessity. Must pass a background check. Compliance with the GPC Safe Church Policy is required. Minimum age 18 years. Two references required. Job Responsibilities: 1. Supervise infants and toddlers (up to kindergarten age) on Sunday mornings from 8:00 a.m. until 12:30 PM, or until the last child has been picked up by parents. 2. Ensure a safe and secure environment for the children. Maintain nursery facility equipment and supplies, including ensuring that equipment and toys are kept clean, and alerting Christian Education committee of any safety issues or need for additional items. 3. Be responsible for the signing in and out of children with their parent/s, and notifying parents in case of emergency. 4. Contact or request a substitute when absent. 5 Be a welcoming, positive, and consistent representative of the nursery for children, parents, and volunteers. 6. Provide supervision and leadership for church volunteers assisting in the nursery. 7. Assist in other duties as directed. 8. Caregiver will need to have a cell phone, if parents need to be contacted during the worship service. The nursery caregiver reports to the GPC Christian Education Committee, in consultation with the Personnel Committee. Salary: $54 per week. $12 per hour for additional hours worked.
