I like taking care of the younger generation for various reasons, but mainly I like to think I am a positive influence and role model to those who I encounter, as well as to those I have cared for in the past. I want to leave their time spent with me as a memorable experience in both their heart and mind.
I recently ended a 10-year live-in nanny position (March 2015). I begin the job when the child was 7 years old; she is currently 17 years old, so my services were no longer needed as she could pretty well manage on her own. My main duties included supervision, mentoring, picking up/dropping off at school and extracurricular activities.
I was also a nanny for approximately 5 years to a 10 month year old girl. I cared for her 7/8 hours a day, 3 to 4 days a week - right up until the summer before she began kindergarten. My duties included supervision and ensuring the child's safety, preparing meals and feeding, changing diapers, toilet training, bathing/ dressing, entertainment/learning activities, and transporting to occasional doctor appointments.
I also have approximately 9+ years experience in the nursery at church, from newborns to the age of 5 years old. Duties included supervising and monitoring, feeding and changing the newborns; while supervising and providing activities for the older aged children. I also assisted in a rotating schedule in helping mentor and supervise groups of older aged children.
And, I also have my own personal experiences as a mother of one child who will be 30 in July. My first grand baby is on the way; he is due to be here in July, as well. I am excited about this new baby adventure!
