Seeking care for my mother in her 90s. Services needed: companionship, bathing / dressing, meal preparation, medication prompting, help staying physically active, mobility assistance. Looking for someone with 3+ years of experience caring for seniors. Specialized care needs: CPR/first aid training, support for memory care. Female caregiver preferred. A little more about my mother: she can be anxious. My mom has Alzheimer's and needs guidance and to be told "it's time for lunch", "it's time for your meds", etc.. She likes to have conversation, and likes kind attention. I'm looking for someone who is patient, firm. Someone who will use the detailed care plan and be in charge - do what's needed for my mom - get her dinner, meds, help to and from bathroom for safety. Keep her company. Attention to detail is important. My mom lives in her home with my dad. He doesn't need any help. The home is set up like a rehab with many of the things needed for her to function - stair lift, grab bars, walker, pill packs from pharmacy delivered. But she needs prompting, reminders and help with most things now. You can't ask her anything- she doesn't know preferences. You need to hand her Ensure rather than asking. Watch her take meds, or she may hide them. Coax her to eat. Someone who has training in dementia/Alzheimer's care is best.
