About who needs care: I am looking for someone to give my mom a day of relief every week so she can get out of the house, run errands, schedule doctor's appointments, etc. My dad was recently discharged from the hospital after his 2nd mini-stroke from sepsis. He has some incontinence & mild cognition issues. He is also 6'4". This person would basically be there to keep him alive and assist with mobility such as walking him to the bathroom, cleaning up accidents, etc. while my mom is grocery shopping, etc. About the care needs: We are lighthearted people that joke around. Our ideal caregiver would have plenty of patience as my dad needs redirection & guidance with tasks and also empathy as he navigates his new loss of cognition. Patient care skills like sponge bathing, dressing, and assisting with mobility would be a must. Communication, keeping him on a schedule, and recognizing bp/O2 issues would be desirable. Services needed include: companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
