About who needs care: We are looking for a special needs caregiver/friend to provide respite, in home and community support services for our 26-year-old son with autism. You will spend time in the home working on life skills, communication, helping him with meals and just hanging out watching movies. You will also venture out into the community as Matt likes to go out to eat, to the movies and to take walks in the park and the mall. Matt requires supervision for health and safety and some minor help with ADLs. Matt loves to laugh and responds to positive reinforcement and attention. His smile will melt your heart. Looking for approximately 8 hours /week, some weekends expected. Flexible schedule. About the care needs: CPR certified, someone upbeat and patient, willing to be trained in how best to communicate and understand him, preferably some knowledge or experience with special needs children or adults.
