About who needs care: My mother is an 82-year-old woman who recently experienced a rapid decline in mobility following a hospitalization for urinary retention. Prior to this episode, she was able to walk short distances with support, but after her hospital stay she became significantly weaker and now requires assistance with most daily activities. She currently: Is unable to walk without full assistance Uses a wheelchair, hospital bed, and bedside potty/commode Experiences generalized pain and weakness but has been medically cleared from major illness Requires help with transfers, bathing, dressing, toileting, and medication reminders Needs gentle encouragement, mobility support, and a caregiver who is patient and experienced with senior functional decline She is mentally alert, enjoys conversation, and is most comfortable when she feels supported and not rushed. An ideal day for her includes light activities, companionship, soft music, and a calm environment. She does best when caregivers move slowly, explain each step, and provide reassurance. We are seeking a private nurse or experienced caregiver who can assist with personal care, mobility, safety supervision, and comfort while helping her maintain dignity and quality of life at home.
