About who needs care: Arlene has dementia and has a tendency to lose track of her thoughts and surroundings quite often. She can become paranoid and argumentative at times, but will immediately apologize when she regains lucidity. Shes semi-ambulatory though locomotion unsupervised has proven very dangerous for her as she is a fall risk. She is semi-incontinent and often needs the help of exterior catheters and hygiene assistance. In general though she is an extremely caring and kind woman who is a pleasure to be around and loves nothing more than talking with people and hearing about people's lives. She has a devoted and doting husband Bill who wants nothing but the best for his wife. He can be a bit strong willed at time but his ultimate goal is to see Arlene thrive and be cared for. About the care needs: We would love a kind and compassionate caregiver that can be patient with both Arlene as the main patient, and Bill with his eccentricities and big personality. Someone with skilled nursing experience would be best, and experience with people with memory and cognitive deficits is a must. The ability to provide ambulatory and hygienic assistance is critical, as well as the ability to transport either of them to medical appointments. Domestic assistance with cleaning and cooking would also be ideal. Most importantly we are looking for someone with the passion and patience to give Arlene a peaceful and dignified home life in spite of her difficulties. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
