About who needs care: Hello, I am writing on behalf of my uncle. He is an elderly male in his early 80s who lives alone and needs assistance. He is very competent, smart, and friendly, but he is increasingly struggling and needs help. He has several medical issues for which he sees doctors (cardiology, urology, etc) and he has a gait disorder for which he uses a walker. He does NOT need assistance with bathing or other ADL, but his major issues for which he needs assistance are psychosocial. He struggles with depression, anxiety, and change; he gets overwhelmed easily and he may be mildly on the spectrum. He needs companionship and someone to help him make decisions, help with structuring and organizing his day, help to get to/schedule doctor appointments, help with groceries and meals. We are looking for a consistent, competent, compassionate caregiver who can provide a combination of companionship and organizational support (in a pseudo personal assistant capacity). About the care needs: Looking for someone who is calm, patient, compassionate, organized, decisive. He needs consistency so someone communicative and reliable. Ideally they would be experienced with elderly individuals, ideally experienced with individuals on the spectrum or with other psychiatric co-morbidities, though this isn't an absolute necessity. Must be interested in conversation/companionship. Bonus if they enjoy sports, opera, or classical music. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
