About who needs care: My mother is in a rehab and nursing home, Luxor, in St. James, NY. She is there after an adverse immunotherapy session where she experienced a low sodium issue and was hospitalized at SBMC and then transferred to Luxor. She also lost her husband two weeks ago. At the moment, my mother is having a difficult time at the Luxor nursing home due to her diminished physical abilities and vision. My mother has age-related macular degeneration (AMD). The care at Luxor is sub-par, and I have a limited number of family members who can see her during the week, and I need help. About the care needs: My mother can be demanding, so someone who can listen well and has a great deal of patience. Services needed include: companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
